Harvesting
Our seven Group sawmills need approximately 1.4 million tonnes of roundwood timber each and every year to meet our sawmill production requirements.
This timber is typically purchased from a mixture of private and state sector forests in Scotland and the north of England, usually within 50 miles of our sawmill sites.
We also handle an additional 350,000 tonnes of roundwood on behalf of third parties.
Together, this makes James Jones & Sons Ltd one of the largest timber harvesting companies in the UK and the only major sawmilling company in Scotland to operate it's own harvesting programme.
