James Jones & Sons (Pallets & Packaging) Ltd has taken over operations at a new £2.5m automated pallet inspection and repair site at Coalville in Leicestershire after signing an agreement with IPP Logipal.
The new site at Interlink Business Park in Bardon Hill replaces a former IPP managed site nearby at Glenfield and the new state-of-the-art line will initially process more than three million reusable pool pallets per year. This is the latest pallet pool inspection and repair site to come under the control of James Jones & Sons (Pallets & Packaging) Ltd, which now operates from 13 strategically located pallets manufacture, inspection and repair sites in the UK.
Bardon Hill becomes the biggest IPP service centre of its kind in Europe and reinforces the company’s commitment to the circular economy, its business model promoting the recovery and continual re-use of durable pallets and boxes.
Gil Covey, executive chairman at James Jones & Sons (Pallets & Packaging) Ltd said: “We have built a strong business and excellent reputation for service and quality in the field of pallet inspection and repair operations with all the closed loop pallet pools, and we are delighted the close working long-term relationship we have developed with IPP has now led to James Jones taking over operations at the Bardon Hill site.
“This is a flagship operation on a new site with state-of-the-art machinery and we are confident that using our expertise will result in a great success for us, IPP and its customers.”
Phil Storer, UK Director of IPP, said: “Having worked extensively with James Jones since we started the business in the UK some 14 years ago, we have come to know them as an established and high-quality supplier of pallets, timber and repair services, and we are confident the new service centre and its teams will be in very professional, safe and supportive hands.”
“It’s fair to say 2018 surpassed our expectations in terms of growth and attracting new customers, so we’re in an excellent position to make a commitment on this scale.
“Sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do and this is further evidence of our commitment to increasing re-use and reducing waste, at every level of both of our businesses and the wider supply chain.
“We have invested in high-end equipment which means that ‘healthy’ pool pallets will be back on the road sooner and damaged ones will be efficiently and quickly repaired in double quick time.”
