Our Lockerbie site was delighted to receive a visit from the University of California, Berkeley, last week.

The group are visiting Scotland to investigate best practice in MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) and to identify what can be learnt and implemented in the US. Interestingly, skills shortages and speed of construction to meet demand are two of the main motivators for this.

The group trip (16 people total) is part of the Builders Lab - a first-of-its-kind accelerator program for companies pursuing MMC in the U.S. The group consisted of representatives from six cohort companies as well as from philanthropic foundations trying to support systems-level housing interventions. The group requested a visit to our Lockerbie facility as they felt it was an excellent opportunity to showcase Scottish forestry and timber processing for construction.
