Our Lockerbie site was happy once again to welcome a group of first year students and staff from the University of Cumbria studying the Professional Forestry Degree Apprenticeship, as part of their Wood Utilisation and Processing module.

The visit provided the group with the opportunity to gain a more detailed understanding of domestic sawn timber markets and processing technology that is utilised in the UK. We were able to discuss some of the current opportunities, challenges and choices around commercial plantations and species selection that will have an impact on the industry in the future. Also, how the UK timber industry fits into global forest product supply chains.
