James Jones & Sons was delighted to joint host the ICF harvesting group meeting at Lockerbie and Langholm with Castlemilk Estate, Eskdalemuir Forestry, Tillhill Forestry and The Langholm Initiative.
The visit, which covered the value of commercial forestry to the economy and Scottish Government's Net Zero aspirations was well supported by ICF members from across the country. The visit to James Jones & Sons' flagship Lockerbie sawmill allowed the group to understand the scope and value of the industry, James Jones activities in the timber industry at home and abroad and to see the processing of locally grown spruce that is sold into the UK market in a wide range of specifications.
The diversity of the group, the excellent site visits and lively discussion around David Leslie's presentation in the evening resulted in a very interesting and beneficial meeting for all attendees.
