11 delegates from companies including National Hickman, North Yorkshire Timber, Scotframe and Springfield Properties recently attended a product training course at James Jones’ Timber Systems Division headquarters in Forres.

Over a day and a half of training, delegates were given a series of presentations covering topics such as technical specifications, environmental issues and sales knowledge. At the end of the tutorial sessions the class were asked to build their own JJI-Joist floor system and also take a test, which was won by Raymond Stevenson of Springfield Properties, with Lee Pollitt of North Yorkshire Timber runner up.

The James Jones course tutors were Technical Support field staff Stephen Stewart and Lynford Chambers, Engineering Manager Ross Brown, Technical Manager Abel Munoz and Grant and Daniel Barclay from the Design Office team.

Prize winner Raymond commented :

“Having attended the JJI Joist Product training course I found it very informative and will find it very useful in my day to day work environment. The advances that the JJI Joist has made, especially in relation to its environmental credentials and also ability to compete with the metal web joist in relation to service holes was quite eye opening."

Timber System’s Business Development Manager, Mark Tilston said:

“We find that our distributors and customers really get a lot from these courses and the more knowledge we can pass on, the easier it is to sell JJI-Joists.”
