The Timber Systems Division of James Jones and Sons Ltd this week confirmed the purchase, from the local council, of additional land next to its existing JJI-Joist manufacturing plant in Forres,

This increased the James Jones site area by over 25%.

Since May the Division has seen a significant uplift in the market for JJI-Joists and in order to deal with what has been exceptional customer demand, the Forres plant has been running three shifts a day, seven days a week, since July. As a result of the increase in shift patterns, order lead times are now back to normal, allowing the Division to respond directly to the market demand which remains very robust going in to the Autumn period.

Brian Robertson, Timber Systems General Manager, commented: “The UK new-build housing sector is showing real signs of resurgence and, as the market leader, demand for our JJI-Joists has been very strong. The acquisition of the extra land will now give us the opportunity we need to expand our manufacturing capacities to meet what we believe will be sustained demand from the housing market over the next few years, and we are currently in active dialogue with a number of leading finger jointing and I-Joist equipment suppliers.”
