The pupils of Applegarth primary school recently joined us at a location close to our Lockerbie sawmill to plant some trees to mark Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Thirty trees were planted in total and were a general mix of Beech, Oak and Sycamore. The children learned a little bit about each species before planting the trees.

Rob MacKenna, General Manager, then visited the primary children the following week to deliver a talk on forestry and timber processing.

The Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee 2022. Everyone across the UK is being invited to plant trees through to the end of the Jubilee year. The Queen's Green Canopy will create a network of individual trees, avenues, copses and whole woodlands in honour of The Queen's service and the legacy she has built.

This will create a green legacy of its own, with every tree planted bringing benefits for people, wildlife and climate, now and for the future.
