Woodland Officers and Forest Managers from the North East England and Yorkshire offices visited Durham to gain insight on the existing sawmilling operations and to see the construction of the new mill. Everyone was given an introduction to the company, including an overview of the new investment and the importance of sustained timber supply. This was followed by a tour of the site to show the FE & FC staff where the timber goes from the planting schemes and forests they manage. This is part of an increase in continued engagement with Forest Managers who are instrumental in planning, managing, harvesting and delivering sustainable timber to the sawmills across the Group.
It is an excellent opportunity to stress the importance of productive tree species and how they underpin long term investment in domestic timber production and help deliver Government ambitions of net zero and circular economy.
