Jacob Ballingall left school last year keen to start his career, but was initially unsure which career path to take.

Following a trial period as a stone mason, he applied for a design position at our Timber Systems Division in Forres. During the interview, it was apparent that he was more interested in a hands-on, practical role and due to coming across very well during the interview stage and after a further chat with production management, an Apprentice Engineer position was offered.

Jacob has now started his course work for his apprenticeship with Moray College. Jacob has already made excellent progress and feedback from the lecturers and fellow colleagues has been very positive . Jacob said: “The thing I find best about the job is the variety of work that happens on a day to day basis. I like not knowing if I will be doing a fabrication job, mechanical job or a breakdown or having to fix an issue. I really like the satisfaction of doing a job well, it really is quite rewarding. I look forward to advancing my training and skills with James Jones & Sons.”
