We were delighted once again to host staff and students from University College Dublin School of Agriculture and Food Science on their International Forestry Study Tour, looking at sustainable forestry in Northern England and Southern Scotland.

One of the main topics of conversation was the changes to the planting and restocking of commercial conifers, and the impact this may have on future jobs and investment if the needs of the whole supply chain are not fully considered. We were also able to explore opportunities and challenges in the UK market for sawn timber products and the role of timber processors in converting round timber into sawn and co-products.
