Head Office

The Larbert area of Scotland has always been the headquarters of James Jones & Sons Ltd and the company has been in its present offices on Broomage Avenue since they were purpose built for us in 1954.


Our two sawmills at our Stevens Croft site in Lockerbie are an essential part of James Jones' timber processing operations and are considered among the most technologically advanced sawmills in Europe.


Our Hangingshaw site was commissioned in 2018 after an investment of £17.5 Million and gives the Group a unique secondary processing, undercover storage and distribution facility.


The company's sawmill at Aboyne in Aberdeenshire sits on the banks of the River Dee. The sawline has been extended and renovated extensively over the years in order to support the group's continued growth.


Our Mosstodloch sawmill was acquired by James Jones in 1989 and sits at the heart of the local community. Mosstodloch is a major supplier of timber products to the UK's agricultural sector.


Our sawmill in Kirriemuir, Angus, is a specialist sawmill processing larger diameter roundwood and a niche range of products complementing that produced elsewhere within the James Jones Group.


Forres is the home of our Timber Systems Division – the UK’s market leading supplier of engineered wood products. In 2018 a further £8.5M has been invested here to create the world’s leading I-Joist assembly line.


The Golborne site was acquired by James Jones in 1999 and today the site manufactures the full range of new pallets and also inspects and repairs millions of pallets a year for all the major UK pallet pools.


Today Gateshead manufactures the full range of new wooden pallets and our continued investment in automated technology makes it one of the most advanced and efficient pallet facilities in the UK.


Our site at Hetton-le-Hole is our specialist packaging facility and here we produce a wide range of robust wooden packaging solutions for organisations that export their products globally.


Our site located at Stretton in Cheshire is an LPR pallet inspection and repair facility and is strategically located adjacent to the busy M56 motorway to aid pallet deliveries and UK-wide distribution.

Bardon Hill

The site at Bardon Hill in Leicestershire is one of James Jones' most state-of-the-art pallet inspection and repair sites and we manage all of its operations on behalf of major pallet pool IPP.


Our Grangemouth site in East Stirlingshire is one of our busiest and most modern pallet inspection and repair sites, which we operate and manage for leading UK closed loop pallet pool CHEP.


Our Wrexham site was acquired in 2011 and is strategically located adjacent to the M6 arterial motorway, which makes distribution of our new wooden pallets across the UK as efficient as possible.

United Box

United Box Limited is a joint venture company located at Airlie in the heart of the Scottish seed potato growing region and has been the home of the much acclaimed ‘Airlie Box’ for more than 40 years.
