In keeping with our innovative approach, James Jones & Sons was one of the first timber processors to offer stress graded construction timber in the UK. Back then all production was visually graded and manually stacked. A lot has changed since those early days and technology has come on in leaps and bounds.

James Jones & Sons, you won’t be surprised to hear, remains at the head of affairs. Today, we use two of only three Goldeneye X-ray scanning units in the UK to identify defects and measure density and moisture content in most of the four million pieces we strength grade each year – all at a speed of up to 300 lineal metres per minute. Why? Because it’s more accurate and provides a better quality product.
