Lockerbie III Fire Incident
James Jones & Sons Ltd is very disappointed to announce that it has suffered a fire at its new sawmill at Lockerbie. The fire occurred in one of the saw groups and was contained in that area by its own personnel and the local fire brigade. No personnel were injured and no further collateral damage has been suffered to either the buildings or the remainder of the sawline. The extent of the damage within the saw group and the implications for production from the sawline are being assessed by management and by the equipment suppliers who are now on site.
There will obviously be some serious knock on effects to production and stocks from the Lockerbie III mill, but it is too early to determine the full implications. James Jones & Sons Ltd however benefits from, and operates, multiple sawmills across Scotland and every effort will be made to minimise disruption. A further announcement will be made once this assessment has been carried out, but in the meantime the sales team will be contacting all affected customers to discuss orders and call offs.
