James Jones Helps Deliver World Class Burns Museum Project
Leading UK engineered timber producers, James Jones & Sons, Timber Systems Division Ltd, are supplying JJI-Joists and BJ-Beams to the world class Robert Burns Birthplace Museum project, currently underway at the Scottish bard's birthplace in Alloway, Ayrshire.
The UK manufactured, FSC certified, JJI-Joists and the BJ-Beams will be used throughout the ground and first floors and in the roof structure of the new Museum. 5668 l/m JJIs will be used and 170 l/m BJ- Beams.
The National Trust for Scotland's £21m project features a stunning modern design from architects Simpson and Brown, with engineering design by Buro Happold, incorporating a striking wave-shaped roof supported by a timber frame main structure, constructed from locally-sourced Douglas fir.
Brian Robertson, General Manager of James Jones & Sons Ltd Timber Systems Division commented:
"We're absolutely delighted to be involved in this landmark project, which is clearly going to provide a building of real architectural and engineering quality. It will be a showcase for the future of what can be achieved with good quality timber engineering."
