Incorporated in 1905, James Jones & Sons Ltd is one of the largest suppliers of British Timber in the UK today. Our sawmills are strategically placed to take advantage of the increasing supply of saw logs being produced from post war plantations. These are bought from both private and state owned forests as well as woodlands owned and managed by the company.

The core business of sawmilling operates on six sites with total sawn production now over 320,000m³. Round timber purchase to service both our sawmills and small roundwood users is close to 750,000m³.

The Company currently employs 469 people in the business. This includes the sawmills, Timber Systems and Unit Pallets. Over 350 of these jobs are located in typically rural areas providing secure, rewarding employment.

Sawn production from existing sites has trebled in the last 15 years, now accounting for 10% of the UK annual sawn production. James Jones current operations are able to handle all log qualities and species with our harvesting systems geared to deliver the correct raw material to the most efficient sawline for that category of log.
